10 Tips to Protect Your Hearing
Hearing loss, even temporarily, can cause problems with your day-to-day activities. It’s important that you protect your hearing to avoid causing any disability. Here are ten tips to help you protect your hearing against harsh elements.
1. Use ear protectors.
Protect your ears with earplugs or earmuffs, depending on your surroundings. Being exposed to loud noise for an extended period of time can damage your hearing. If you’re unable to leave the place or avoid the loud noise, make sure to take regular breaks.
2. Lower the volume.
Avoid listening to your music playlist at high volume, especially if your goal is just to drown out background noise. If the volume makes it difficult for you to listen to your music or if you’re unable to hear external sounds when you’re using your headphones, then the volume is too loud. Turn down the music.
3. Do a sound check.
Be mindful of your surroundings at all times, especially when there are loud noises everywhere. Do a sound check before you engage in an intense activity, like motorcycling or watching a concert.
4. Use earplugs when you’re listening to a live performance.
